Shooting Pool with a Rope, Baby Blue Gallery
Chicago, IL
Three-Person, January 12 - February 4, 2018
Athletic pathetic aesthetic. “Shooting Pool with a Rope” is an exhibition of sculptural works that evoke feelings of failure and irony through craft, such as steel beer can columns, sagging hammers, and concrete basketballs. Material negates the function of the referenced object, and so the pieces are humorously impotent. They challenge whether desires are fully sublimated by art or are just aestheticized.
